With the mass amount of information and rumors that are going around literally all Marvel properties, writer/director Edgar Wright's Ant-Man has gotten more headlines than any other character or team the past few months.
Once said to be already be green lit, Marvel never confirmed this to be true and new information states Ant-Man has definitely not been green lit but it is in the process of trying to be.
"As speculation continues to swirl around the mystery of what Marvel movie will be released in May 2014—here's hoping that next month's Comic-Con will provide some answers—Edgar Wright just quietly wrapped production on Ant-Man," wrote The Hollywood Reporter, in an exclusive. "But before you start hitting the tweet button, know this: it’s not the long-awaited Ant-Manmovie but rather an Ant-Man test reel."
You read that right, a week-long test shoot has wrapped for Ant-Man and this means Wright will take this footage, add some basic special effects and CG to it and then present it to the Marvel Studios executives.
This may not be the normal process for some movies to get green lit from studio. However, when you have a character on screen who can shrink down to the size of ants and then control them with his helmet, it makes logical sense as to why a test reel is being done. Marvel Studios needs to see a concept first in order to make a final decision on if a film like Ant-Man will visually come off realistic and not cheesy.
With Comic Con right around the corner, and Marvel Studios' panel already confirmed, it's only a short amount of time until the next batch of superhero solo flicks are officially announced by the studio.
