The trend of superhero movies breaking records in the box office this summer continues after The Avengers' fantastic run to start the season and now with The Amazing Spider-Man breaking the all-time opening record for a Tuesday release previously held by Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Two years ago, the third installment of the Transformers franchise pulled in over $27 million on its Tuesday opening but Spidey has beat that with an approximate tally of $35 million.

Looks like it'll be a very happy holiday week for Sony and director Marc Webb as The Amazing Spider-Man was initially projected to take in around $125 million, then said closer to $150 million and it appears the latter is going to be the more accurate prediction after breaking a record on Day 1 of its release already.

Stay tuned as we track Spider-Man's performance all week and through the weekend too.
